A Wizard In A Way
Sir Patrick Moore’s doppelganger
lives somewhere in and around
52nd and 9th
Extremely large for a pensioner
this geriatric Frankenstein, Newton
awakened for weekend brunch
At 12 noon on the dot, give or take
with a lumber shuffle to a table
he'd read the set menu
but always order
Eggs Benedict and Orange juice
and always leave a measly copper tinged tip
It was revealed over time
on quieter brunches when we could converse
that he was a wizard or so it seemed
divulging the wonders of Sage and lucid dreams
His favourite movie was The Blue Angel
He told me about Carlos Castaneda
Because I told him I was half Fairy
He gave me a book by A.E
I saw him once on the street
and was astounded by his scale and pace
an old wizard out there in the mist of
a roaring rat race.
