I have never seen Swan Lake
But I have seen swans in a pond
in Phoenix Park
A pair, pure royalty amongst the fowl
They’ll not rush for bread crumbs
Don’t be conned by pure white plumage
This burglar masked hissing hierarchy
can break bones with their beak
Under that graceful posture
Two giant black webbed feet
steer this powerful ship
Towards us with the majesty of torpedos
Silently communicating with each other
At the ponds edge we watch, nervously.
